Deluxe Tetron Nobakama
Deluxe Tetron Aikido Nobakama
Made in Japan | Black or Navy
Material: Tetron (65% polyester / 35% rayon)
Shrinkage: 0%  |  Weight (size 26): 0.92 kg
Shape: Nobakama with Aikido finish.
Nobakama, literally "fields Hakama", was used by farmers. Its tighter cut allows better freedom of movement and prevents legs to get caught in the brambles. In the practice of martial arts, it prevents stepping on it. The Nobakama is in fact constituted of only 3 pleats on the front instead of 5 on the standard models. The Nobakama was used by Aikido's Saito Sensei (Iwama Aikido), but also by many Iaido, Kenjutsu and Koryu practitioners and teachers. For the practitioner, it improves the ease of movement, and for the teacher, it can emphasize leg movements when teaching technical movements (ashisabaki).
Please note that this type of Hakama is not suitable for practice of regular aikido and is reserved to a limited number of practitioners. In addition, the logo Aikikai is not available for this particular model.
This model is made of a composite fabric polyester/rayon, a combination that provides our hakama with durable quality. This synthetic model is solid and comfortable, and very easy to maintain thanks to a special iron treatment that keeps pleats perfect in any situation. Tetron is the fabric most commonly used in the manufacture of Japanese Hakama for Kendo, Iaido, and Aikido. The fabric that we use is slightly thicker and stronger than the fabrics used for the models below. The uncompromising quality of our fabric is illustrated by the 7 lines of stitching on the straps for enhanced robustness. The flexible Koshiita made of durable composite rubber is safe for any kind of ukemi.
Easy to fold and to maintain, this model may be hand washed and dried on a hanger (holding the folds using clothespins) without risk of losing its pleats or damaging the fabric. The color does not fade even though a slight color transfer may occur due to frictions.
Seido is the only Japanese company to manufacture Nobakama with an Aikido finish. This model has become a best-seller amongst the practitioners of Iwama-style Aikido, but also with koryu practitioners.
For maximum comfort, the strap length is adjusted according to the size of the Hakama.
As all our Hakama, this model is fully made in Japan (fabric, cut and stitching).
