Horizontal Tokusei Keyaki Tantokake
Horizontal Tantokake - Tokusei Keyaki
Made in Japan (Gifu region)
Wood: 100% Keyaki
Size: 1 level only
Dimensions: Width: ~28.6 cm | Height: ~21.6 cm | Depth: ~9 cm | Holes width: ~2.6 cm
This decorative support (Tantokake) is made of luxury elm wood with "Honji Shiage" finish, ideal for exhibiting your Tanto or a short Wakizashi.
In addition to the exceptional quality of wood selected for this model, it has a "Honji" ("true form") finish. This corresponds to a light varnish that reveals the wood patterns and nodes for a very "raw wood like" finish, differing to the Jidai Shiage Keyaki version for swords by its finish.
Delivered non-assembled, easy to build (no screws).
This model can be engraved with the options available above the description.
The Josei (upper) Keyaki (Japanese Elm) corresponds to a selection of top quality elm. Also known as Ulmus in Latin, it is a solid wood of high quality and durability which makes it a timber of choice. Traditionally widely used in the manufacture of luxurious decorative objects, elm is now mostly used for the more traditional crafts (such as antique reproductions). Indeed, after an illness affecting elm worldwide, the amount of wood available in the 20th century greatly diminished, making it an even more valuable wood.
