This made in Japan Menuki features is an caltrop, also called "devil pod", an aquatic plant. Hishi is used in various Kamon (crests), and notably in the Takeda clan Kamon (4 diamond shapes disposed in a diamon shape), the Mitsubishi logo (which originaly is a Kamon) or the triple diamond shaped pyramid (which some may refer as the "Triforce" which actually represents 3 diamonds). From its ability to reproduce very quickly, the caltrop became a symbol of vitality and prosperity.
