This made in Japan Menuki features the "Maru ni Kenkatabami" Kamon. This Japanese crest was very popular among the samurai class and was adopted by many clans. It is composed of Oxalis corniculata, a plant often used in Chinese traditional medecine, and a straight sword. The Oxalis popularity comes from its capacity to reproduce very fast, making it very difficult to eradicate, becoming a symbol of prosperity. The sword is a tsurugi, a straight sword refering to both Buddhism and the history of the foundation of Japan, very different from the Katana.
