Deluxe Sashiko Cotton Samue
Deluxe Sashiko Samue
Made in Japan
Material: 100% Cotton
Color: black, navy, dark grey/brown, grey, or brown
Size: S, M, L, LL, or 3L.
This model is made from Sashiko fabric, but thinner than the one used for our Aikidogi. Sashiko is a very strong, yet relatively light and breathable fabric. Used since ancient times in Japan for work clothes, this Samue is perhaps the most durable in our catalog. This Sashiko fabric is extremely soft and comfortable, which makes this "middleweight" samue extremely comfortable to wear.
Sashiko being a relatively thick weaving pattern, and the color reflections slightly change depending on the viewing angle, giving the Sashiko a very nice fashionable appearance.
This model features one pocket on the jacket's left side, and open sleeves (similar to Kimono and Dogi). The pants have pockets on both sides, a zipper, and a button on the front as well as a back elastic band and the usual cords.
With 6 colors and 5 sizes to choose from, this model also offers the widest choice range in our catalog. Given the relatively small production of the workshop and available variants, please allow about 1 month for production.
The Samue is a garment that has many uses. Traditionally worn by monks in Zen Buddhist temples, artists, or even doctors, it is also widely worn as homeware, both at home, in the ryokan (traditional hotel), or at the onsen (hot spring). It is also found among players of the original Zen instrument, the Shakuhachi (traditional flute). In recent years, the port of Samue extended outside the home, as a particularly comfortable informal clothing. Just like Jinbei, Samue is worn without a belt.
Sizing advice
A samue is designed to be loose, so a specific size will fit a very wide range of body shapes.
