Although there is no martial art that specializes in techniques with the Tanbo, it is used in various Koryu under the term 'Tanbo-Jutsu'. The Tanbo is usually between 1.5 Shaku (45.5 cm) and 2 Shaku (60.6 cm) and is perfectly round.
We, therefore, offer this product on a custom-made basis in 4 different lengths and 2 different diameters.

The Tanbo is mainly used in arts that contain a self-defense curriculum, for techniques to block edged weapons, to strike, to lock joints and for various other 'Jujutsu-like' techniques.
The Tanbo is also a suitable weapon for realistic self-defense practice against Men and Yokomen strikes.
