Deluxe Waraku Cotton Samue

Deluxe Waraku Cotton Samue

Made in Japan
Material: 100% Mikawa Cotton
Color: Black or Navy
Size: S, M, L, LL

Traditional Deluxe Samue made in Japan from 100% Hishisashi (Sashiko) cotton. Made from the same fabric as our Waraku Kendogi and Waraku Iaidogi and manufactured by the same workshop, it features the same advantages: light and flexible, super comfortable to wear, and quick drying. And this high-quality weave results in one of the strongest cotton fabrics on earth in relation to its thickness.
The Waraku fabric is made from Mikawa cotton, one of the very last cotton production in Japan with more than 500 years of history.

Available in 2 colors and 4 sizes. It features an elastic waistband, pockets on each side of the pants and the left side of the jacket, elastic strings at the ankles, and a crotch zipper. Additional strings at the level of the waist allow to secure the jacket. Almost no shrinkage and color fading. Note that this model has a fairly loose fit, so if you are in between two sizes, you should go for the smallest one.

Strong because Dogi Sashiko fabric, this high-quality Samue will please all adepts of Japanese craftsmanship as well as Budo practitioners. The Waraku fabric is highly air permeable and can be worn throughout the whole year, it absorbs sweat and dries fast.
With it's "Okumi-like" cut, it could occasionally be worn to practice Iaido or Kenjutsu, even with a Hakama.

The Samue is a garment that has many uses. Traditionally worn by monks in Zen Buddhist temples, artists, or even by doctors, it is also widely worn as home wear and in Ryokan (traditional hotel), or at Onsen (hot spring). It is also found among players of the original Zen instrument, the Shakuhachi (traditional flute). In recent years, it has become more and more popular to wear the Samue outside of the privacy of ones' home, as it is a particularly comfortable informal clothing. Just like Jinbei, Samue is worn without a belt.
